POLICIES, TERMSÂ AND CONDITIONS
All the boring Policy Stuff that nobody wants to read, but you really should. I would rather be making unique ceramics, but I've written these because they are important.
This is a picture of me creating with clay. It is a messy business and I love it. I do not look like this when I am at the computer writing Policies.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
I am an independent producer of unique ceramics. I really, really hope nothing goes wrong with your order, but we live in the real world and sometimes, despite our best efforts, things go wrong. This is the section for that ...
Every item on this website has been made by me in my garden studio. Each item is unique, even those that are for the same function, like mugs; each have their own personality. Therefore, if you order more than one item expecting them to be exact duplicates (like factory ware), that is unlikely and I cannot accept returns or offer replacements for this reason.
However, I can offer a refund if your item arrives broken. These are ceramic pieces, and I will wrap them up with care and thought for the environment, but with the understanding that they are going to travel to you through a postal system and accidents (and delivery people) happen, it is not your fault or my fault, but nobody wants to buy a broken piece of art. Send me an email with a photo of the broken item in its packaging and I will refund the money you paid for it – you do not need to return it to me. Give it a careful send off, and if it helps say a few words, but it isn’t going to help if you send it back. I can’t send you a replacement, because every single one of my pieces is unique. If you are kind enough to want to buy something else to replace it you can go through my shop and see what takes your fancy, and I will thank you and appreciate it.
Now here’s the most difficult bit. Ceramic is a beautiful medium because it not only speaks to you through your eyes when you look at it, it speaks to you through your touch when you hold it and through your ears when you tap it. Unfortunately, a website only speaks to you through your eyes (and if I make some videos there is some sound, but it’s not very good). I have tried to show as many different aspects for each piece, so that you can see it as it truly is, but when you finally get to hold it, tap it (if it’s functional, use it) that will be a whole other experience. If you don’t like the feel or sound of a piece once you get to hold it send me an email to let me know. You can post it back to me and when it arrives in one piece, I will refund the money you paid for it. If I am at a selling event you can bring it back to me and I will arrange a refund. That is the best I can practically do.
If you have any other issues not covered here, just send me an explanation email and we can discuss it.

Privacy Policy
Hi, I know nobody really bothers to read these things, so I thought I’d at least make it a bit more personal. I am very pleased when you subscribe to my newsletter, it means I can tell you things you will be interested to know. But I am not in the least bit interested in your data, I don’t want to use it, sell it, give it away. In fact, it is one of the things I find most difficult about the modern connected world and I have to work hard to believe that anyone would want to be contacted by me and would therefore happily give me their contact details. However, in order for this website to function there is some data that I need to collect. Below is the boring bit that covers all bases and to be honest makes no sense to anyone but the people that first wrote it. What it says is that I personally will collect information that you purposefully send to me, e.g, your email address, for the purposes of contacting you when I get my act together and produce a newsletter. It also says that the site collects information from you in order to do what it does successfully. E.g. when you buy something (when the shop is open and functioning) the payment methods collect your payment details so I can be paid for what you want to buy.
If you ever want to know what information I have collected about you, you can email me and ask. To be honest, the reply will most likely be, ‘I only have your email address, because you have just sent it to me’. But if you have subscribed to my newsletter you will already know that. I will have delivery addresses given to me for items that have been bought, but I wont be keeping them (I do not have the brain capacity to remember them, and I don’t have the organisational capacity to file them, and I don’t have the time to do anything with them even if I had the other two). So you are safe, from me (I cant vouch for what goes on in the rest of the world wide web).
There are also the dreaded ‘cookies’ that make the internet work, these are the things that remember where you have been on a site so you can return back to a page (always helpful). There are the cookies that look at how the site is functioning and how it is used, these are used by me when I want to find out how many people have looked at a page, what has sparked interest, what helps to get my site noticed amongst the billions of other sites swimming about out there. I don’t really understand it at the same level as a computer programmer and website developer, but I understand it enough to know that nothing harmful is going on.
My site is developed by me using the Wix platform, so they do all the complex background stuff. Below is all the blurb that covers all of that. You can stop reading now if you want, I’ve covered the important stuff.
